Newcastle this afternoon..

Firstly my apologies for lack of communication over the past few weeks but I have been out of the country and far from a computer connection.

Nicky Richards has Hannah Jacques running this afternoon at Newcastle in the 2.30 novices hurdle with James Reveley in the saddle – the going is good to soft.

Yesterday a group of syndicate members went down to Hazelrigg Racing stables where Scarvagh Rose is in training with Rose Dobbin. She has had five races now and the plan is to let her have a break and bring her back in early in the next season. Her poor performance recently was put down to the bad ground conditions and we think her performance will improve on better ground.

Scarvagh Rose ran a lovely race at Newcastle today in a handicap hurdle. Jockey, Wilson Renwick, thought the ground was a “bit too testing for her” and she struggled after the final hurdle.. but she still managed to finish in fourth place. Connections are very pleased with her performance.

Newcastle tomorrow..

Scarvagh Rose has been declared for tomorrows race at Newcastle.

She will run in the first race, a handicap hurdle over 2 miles, with Wilson Renwick in the saddle.  The ground is soft, heavy in places but the forecast is for a sunny day, if a little chilly, so we look forward to another exiciting days racing at Newcastle!

Newcastle again?

The MS Borders Racing Club could be heading to Newcastle again next week when hopefully the ground will be in better condition [than it was on Tuesday when Hannah Jacques ran]. Scarvagh Rose has been entered in a handicap hurdle and a mares only hurdle on Wednesday 19th January.

Nasty ground..

I managed to negotiate the icy roads for a trip to Newcastle Races today where our MS racehorse Hannah Jacques was running in the mares’ novices’ hurdle. The going was pretty rough and officially soft, heavy in places, and out of the 15 runners in the race 7 of them pulled up and Hannah Jacques was one of them.  However she did mange the jumps pretty well on her first outing over hurdles. We look forward to her next race when hopefully the ground will be more to her liking.

Tomorrows racing at Kelso has been abandoned, another casualty of this dreadful winter weather!
